Design Genius is an educational module for 4th
and 5th graders that strives to instill them with a greater sense of
educational purpose, enhance their self-efficacy by growing their creative
confidence, and teach them a “fail forward” mentality that encourages a bias
towards action. The module aims to prepare America’s children for a future rife
with mounting health, social, and economic threats; threats for which our
antiquated educational system is struggling to equip them. It is designed to
combat falling Creativity Quotient (CQ) scores, which are three times more
likely to lead to lifetime success than IQ scores, by leveraging the
neurobiological creativity process to encourage dual-activation of both
cerebral hemispheres. The process allows students to create a real, tangible
product; they design a print, develop a product, oversee production, learn
retail math, create a brand, and market their design in a real website environment.
